The Maha Samaya Sutta is often chanted as a daily practice in Pali and also at weddings and dedications of new buildings. It is a “protective blessing” as much as it teaches doctrine. The core message, though, is to emphasize the importance of refuge.
The Parabhava Sutta points out the causes of downfall. He who is mindful of these dangers keeps the road open to all those thirty-eight blessings of which human nature is capable.
The Vasala Sutta describes that it is not by birth that one is an outcast or a brahmana, but by ones deeds.
